Will Cristiano Ronaldo Play in Manchester United’s Final Match Against Crystal Palace?

Must read

On Sunday night, Manchester United will face Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park Stadium in the final matchday of the Premier League 2021-22 season. Having already lost the chance to play in the next Champions League season, Sunday’s game will determine whether Ralf Rangnick’s men secure the final Europa League spot or are relegated to the Europa Conference League. However, according to The Athletic, United will be without their best player for their final league game of the season.

According to The Athletic, Cristiano Ronaldo will miss the crucial game due to a hip flexor injury. With 24 goals, the 37-year-old is United’s leading scorer in 2021-22, as the team looks to finish the season on a high note. The team has been in poor form this season, and they will finish the season with the lowest points total in Premier League history.

Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo will pass up the opportunity to impress incoming team manager Erik ten Hag, who will be in the stands at Selhurst Park Stadium to watch the game. ten Hag, on the other hand, will officially join the squad after the current season concludes and will not be involved in any matchday planning on Sunday. United are two points ahead of seventh-placed West Ham with one game remaining after a 4-0 loss to Brighton in the previous league game.

If West Ham wins and United draws or loses against Palace, David Moyes’ side will move above United in the Premier League 2021-22 points table and claim the final Europa League spot. If they lose, the Hammers will play in the Europa League the following season. Having said that, West Ham will play Brighton on the final day of the Premier League season.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who has already scored 18 goals in 30 Premier League games, will be a significant absentee. He has been in fantastic form since joining the Red Devils in the summer of 2021. Ronaldo also carried the team through the Champions League group stage on his shoulders.
