Two government school teachers, including a woman, were killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar today, less than 48 hours after three civilians were gunned down by terrorists in separate incidents.

Attacks on civilians from minority communities in Jammu and Kashmir have multiplied, and the government’s failure to act despite intelligence reports is deafening, resulting in deaths every other day. One is a Kashmiri Pandit (Deepak Chand), and the other is a Sikh (Satinder Kaur), who is also the principal of the school.

“At about 11:15 am, terrorists shot dead two school teachers at Sangam Eidgah in Srinagar district,” a police official said. He said the area has been cordoned off and a hunt has been launched to nail the attackers.

According to police, Makhan Lal Bindroo, 70, a prominent businessman and owner of a pharmacy in Srinagar’s Iqbal Park, was shot at point-blank range inside his pharmacy around 7 p.m. on Tuesday. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

Police and security forces rushed to the scene, but his assailants had already fled. Mr Bindroo, a Kashmiri Pandit, remained in Kashmir and ran his pharmacy even during the height of terrorism in the 1990s.
