In the 31st match of the Indian Premier League Season 2022, the Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai on Tuesday. Faf’s army set the chasing target of 182 runs but Lucknow Super Giant was confined to the score of 163/8. In the final innings, Josh Hazlewood recorded 4 for 25. Krunal Pandya scored 42 runs whereas KL Rahul scored 30 runs putting up a decent fight. Super Giants kept losing the wickets at regular intervals resulting in their defeat.
Taking the charge himself, Faf du Plessis played a brilliant 96 runs innings as Royal Challengers Bangalore reclaimed from a top-order fall down to post 181 for six against Lucknow Super Giants. Before the time, Bangalore was reeling at 62 runs at 4 wickets but with the great companionship, Du Plessis and Shahbaz Ahmed added 70 runs for the fifth wicket. In the beginning, Lucknow won the toss and chose to bowl first. Faf Du Plessis and Josh Hazlewood were the stars of the night. After this spectacular win, Banglore goes second in the point table, behind Gujarat titans.
Royal Challengers Bangalore recorded 181 for six with skipper Faf du Plessis making a dazzling 96 runs off 64 balls, adding his highest record in the IPL. Earlier, he also scored 96 runs knock for CSK against Punjab in Mohali in 2019. He remained unbeaten for CSK vs KKR at Wankhede on April 21, 2021. Initially, Lucknow Super Giants who have been rolling this season lost two matches consecutively. According to the points table, the orange army have 10 points and Lucknow are with eight points and are sitting at second and fourth positions, respectively.
Royal Challengers Bangalore, on the other hand, have been an entertaining team so far and this is the only time when Super Giants looked to be in serious trouble. Virat Kohli continues to struggle with his bat as he scored a duck off the first ball.
