Prime Minister worried about the fourth wave of Covid in India, chairs a crucial meet with CMs

Today the Prime Minister called for an urgent meeting regarding Covid -19 as cases are increasing. The meeting was done through video conferencing and the meeting was also attended by home minister Amit Shah. 60-year-old Narendra Modi said that “ Covid challenge has not been surpassed. Despite managing the Covid crisis well as compared to other countries, we can see an uptick in cases in states now. We have to stay alert’’.

The meeting was also attended by West Bengal chief minister Mamta Banerjee, CM of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel, and Punjab’s new chief minister Baghwant Mann. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also warned people that in upcoming times Covid cases will definitely increase and we have to stay alert and follow all covid-19 guidelines. 

IIT Kanpur experts say that in India the fourth wave will come in the month of June. Currently, Covid cases are increasing and today India reported 2,927 new coronavirus cases. The country also reported 32 deaths of covid patients in the last 24 hours. Vaccinations against the coronavirus are also happening very rapidly in India. According to a report till April 3, 2022, India has administered over 1.8 billion doses overall including first, second and precautionary doses.  91% of the eligible population aged above 12 has received at least one shot, and 77% of the eligible population i.e. 12 plus is fully vaccinated.

Recently the Uttar Pradesh government also made guidelines for 5 districts in UP. These districts included Meerut, Baghpat, Gautam Budh Nagar, Bulandshahar, and Hapur in which wearing a face mask was made mandatory.
