Party Clarification, On Congress Leader’s Video Triggers Dispute : “I Can Hit Modi”

The Congress Party was quick to issue clarification on the statement of Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole who has courted dispute after a video clip showed him saying that “I have been in politics for the last 30 years. In five years he can provide for an entire generation. By building schools and colleges they can provide for two generations. I don’t own even one school and nor have I taken any contract from anyone. I help whoever comes to me for help. That’s why I can hit Modi and abuse him”.

On which BJP National spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala tweeted that this clip is making an oblique reference to the security of Prime Minister beach where his recent trip to Ferozepur in Punjab where he was stuck a top flyover for 15-20 minutes due to the road being blocked by some protesters. The ministry of Home Affairs had termed it as a “major lapse” in his security. Poonawala said PM security was a conspiracy.

 Later Mr. Patole clarified that the video clip where he is speaking in Marathi is actually mentioned  to a local goon Gopanrav Modi who shares the surname of the Prime Minister. People of  Mr. Patole’s constituency were complaining about a local punk who is known as Modi, Congress Maharashtra general secretary Atul Londhe Patil tweeted “whatever Patole ji said, it was about him and not about honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modiji”.

Poonawala’s allegations are in line with several BJP leaders’ assertion that there was a conspiracy behind the security breach, though the state government has rubbished such allegations. The Punjab government also has a high level panel. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditya Nath had last week called it a pre-planned “SAZISH”.
