LSG against CSK in IPL 2022 Highlights: Lucknow Super Giants trounced Chennai Super Kings by six wickets in their second IPL match of the season on Thursday. LSG completed the task with three balls to spare at the Brabourne Stadium, despite being set an imposing aim of 211. Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul each hit 61 runs, while Evin Lewis smashed 55 runs off only 23 balls.

Chennai Super Kings scored 210 for seven in their first innings when they were put in to bat. At the Brabourne Stadium, experienced Robin Uthappa slammed a 27-ball 50, while Shivam Dube smashed an aggressive 49 off 30 balls to open the innings. 217/7 in 20 overs (Robin Uthappa 50, Shivam Dube 49, Moeen Ali 35; Ravi Bishnoi 2/24, Avesh Khan 2/38, Andrew Tye 2/41) Quinton de Kock 61, KL Rahul 40, Evin Lewis 55 not out; Dwaine Pretorius 2/31). Lucknow Super Giants: 211/4 in 19.3 overs (Quinton de Kock 61, KL Rahul 40, Evin Lewis 55 not out; Dwaine Pretorius 2/31).

After Shivam Dube, who joined Moeen Ali, smashed three fours against Dushmantha Chameera in the 10th over, CSK raced beyond 100 runs. Avesh Khan’s full-length delivery in the 11th over cleaned up Moeen Ali. The flow of runs was continued by Shivam Dube and Ambati Rayudu, the new man on the crease, with Dube performing the brunt of the striking. Rayudu hit a massive six against Krunal Pandya with five overs to play, bringing the fifty partnership to an end for the fourth wicket. For LSG, Bishnoi struck at the appropriate time to dismiss Rayudu, who was bowled for 27. Dube, who smashed a huge six in the 18th over that nearly went out of the stadium, was joined by skipper Jadeja.

Captains and coaching staff are frequently chastised these days for leaning too heavily on data and not enough on gut feeling and game feel. If KL Rahul and the Lucknow Super Giants had looked at the stats, it did not appear so during the Powerplay when Robin Uthappa picked them apart. It is no secret that the well-directed short ball has been Uthappa’s Achilles Heel throughout his career.
