In the 48th game of the Indian Premier League of season 2022, Punjab Kings beat Gujrat titans by 8 wickets at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. Punjab Kings became the second team to hand Pandya-led side Gujarat Titans a loss. After this win, Punjab Kings are standing at the fifth position with ten points. Whereas Gujrat Titan is still at the top of the point table with 16 points. They were a victory away from becoming the first team of the season to make the playoffs but Punja Kings snatched this title.
After the quick early blow, the former’s go-slow approach in the middle of the game leaves the match stably. Shikhar Dhawan and Bhanuka Rajapaksa rescued Punjab Kings by leading them towards victory. Livingstone had other plans as he smashed Shami for 28 runs in the 16th over to wrap up the target.
Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya went against the wave and chose to bat first after winning the toss, sending Punjab Kings to bowl first. The openers managed to get off to a quick start but a horrible insight left Shubman Gill’s departure. After this Wriddhiman Saha took the charge but after some overs later Gujrat collapsed and it was unmanageable. Saha went with a boundary for as many as 48 balls. Prior to this Rahul Tewatia broke the streak. Gujarat had their hopes stuck, but he too failed to save the team. Punjab Kings scored 145 runs over two wickets and by this, they marked the victory in the match. Until now Punjab Kings have played ten games out of which they won 5 matches and lost the same.
Following Tewatia, Sudarshan made a hard fight by scoring 64 runs, amidst this Kagiso Rabada took four wickets in a row which includes the redundancy of Tewatia and Rashid Khan’s dismissals. Gujarat folded itself by recording 143 runs for eight wickets. Both sides have prevailed unchanged in the contest.
