CM face of AAP from Punjab will be announced next week: Arvind Kejriwal

If the AAP comes to power in Punjab, the state’s law and order situation will improve, and justice would be served in all previous sacrilege incidents, said the Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal

The nomination of AAP state unit president and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann as the CM’s face has sparked speculation, but Kejriwal has refrained from publicizing the name too soon. In 2017, the Aam Aadmi Party contested its first Punjab Assembly elections without a candidate for Chief Minister and won 20 seats, becoming it the state’s main opposition party.

“We assure the people of Punjab to improve the law and order situation and ensure justice in all previous incidents of sacrilege if APP comes to power. Security will be ensured to all – be it PM or anyone else,” Kejriwal said during his two-day trip to Punjab.

“The announcement of the CM (chief ministerial) face will be made next week,” Kejriwal said, refusing to elaborate on the details of the chief ministerial candidate.

“Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will announce the name of its CM candidate for Punjab Assembly elections next week,” Arvind Kejriwal was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“A tie-up of the Congress and the Badal family has been going on for the last several years. Both the Congress and the Badal family have been looting Punjab. It will now come to an end. Punjab will witness prosperity and good times for Punjab are going to come,” he said.

The party has already announced candidates for 109 of the 117 Assembly seats and has stated that it will contest the elections with a CM face this time.

The list of candidates for the next elections has yet to be released by the ruling Congress. The Punjab assembly elections will be held on February 14 and the results will be announced on March 10.
