5 must take diagnostic test for women over 30

Date:

From infancy until old life, the human body undergoes several changes. Our metabolism and other processes slow down as we become older, which can lead to health problems like diabetes and hypertension. This emphasizes the importance of getting regular health screenings in order to make the transition smoother and better for the body. For women attempting to find a work-life balance, the thirties are a critical period. Juggling work stress and a plethora of other commitments can be detrimental to one’s health. Annual checks are the greatest approach to prevent lifestyle disorders and catch them early, according to Dr. Geeta Aurangabadkar, clinical director of Proactive For Her.

Continue reading to learn about the five critical tests that every woman should undergo when she reaches the age of 30.

Blood Count

A complete blood count (CBC) is a blood test that is used to assess overall health and diagnose a variety of illnesses such as anemia, infection, and, on rare occasions, a blood cancer. A complete blood count (CBC) test determines the number of red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs), hemoglobin, Hematocrit (Hct), and platelets in your blood.

She said “It is estimated that 52 percent of non-pregnant women of reproductive age are anemic. At the brink of your 30’s, this test is commonly used as a screening test to detect anemia. This may lead to further clues about common nutrient deficiencies that may cause anemia, such as iron or B12. CBC is also done to monitor your overall health and treatment (if you are undergoing any),”.

Lipids Profile

The number of specific fat molecules termed lipids in the blood is measured by the lipid profile. It’s a panel test that measures a variety of chemicals, including cholesterol in various forms. This test assesses the risk of heart disease as well as the health of the blood vessels. According to Dr. Aurangabadkar, knowing this could help someone change their eating habits, diet, stress, exercise, and lifestyle for the better. “You’ll be surprised to hear that thyroid issues and PCOS are frequently linked to a poor lipid profile,” she explained.

Thyroid function evaluation

In India, nearly one out of every ten women suffers from thyroid problems. It’s critical to check yourself for thyroid disorders because the symptoms are usually subtle at first and might go undiscovered for a long period. “Irregular periods, unexplained weight gain, hair loss, and infertility are the most commonly reported symptoms,” she said.

An underactive thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) and an overactive thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism) can both be detected with a simple blood test (hyperthyroidism).

Pap smear

According to Dr. Aurangabadkar, India is responsible for approximately a quarter of all cervical cancer deaths worldwide. “A Pap smear is a basic cervical cancer screening test that detects issues early on. It’s also used to detect alterations in cervical cells that could turn malignant later and require more monitoring,” she noted.

Your gynecologist or a skilled nurse examines your cervix and collects a sample by gently scraping cells from your cervix, which are then inspected under a microscope for abnormal cells or infection. Women over 30 should consider testing every 5 years, which would include a Pap smear and an HPV (Human papillomavirus) test.

Blood Sugar

She stated that diabetes affects more than one out of every ten women aged 35 to 49. According to Dr. Aurangabadkar, diabetes symptoms might exist in the background for a long period without one’s consciousness. Because your body is unable to generate or use insulin properly, diabetes can cause your blood sugar (blood glucose) to rise to dangerously high levels. Insulin is required for the body to use blood sugar for energy, according to her.
