SRH vs RCB: Sunrisers Stunned RCB With 4-run Win in the Last Over

Must read

The high flying Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) witnessed an upsetting loss after Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) successfully defended 13 runs in the last over of the 52nd match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s fiery bowling performance in the last over, SRH sealed a 4-run win over RCB in Abu Dhabi.

Earlier in the match, RCB bowlers managed to restrict SRH to a decent total of 141 for 7 wickets in 20 overs. The RCB fast bowler put an impressive spell of 3 off 33 runs to give RCB an upper hand over SRH. He dismissed Kane Williamson (31), Wriddhiman Saha (10) and Jason Holder (16) making the game challenging for SRH. Dan Christian also picked up 2 wickets including that of Jason Roy (44 off 38) who remained the top-scorer for SRH.

However, the disciplined bowling from SRH bowlers brought them the victory they desired. Even though Devdutt Padikkal (41 off 52) and Glen Maxwell (40 off 25) scored some good runs, the rapid loss of wickets put RCB in a disadvantageous position. In the last over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar held his nerve even after witnessing a six in the fourth ball from AB de Villiers and earned a narrow 4-run victory for his team.

SRH skipper Kane Williamson looked quite satisfied with his team’s performance after the match. He said, “It’s been a tough season and it’s great to see some of those small improvements. To see those small adjustments were good, we thought that total was competitive and we saw that fight throughout the ball as well.”

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli also lauded the SRH bowlers and pointed out Maxwell’s wicket as the changing point of the match. “Maxi’s run-out was the game-changing moment. With AB you are never out of the game, but it is about making sure that the guy whose inflow should be on strike,” he said in the post-match session.

On a hopeful note, Kohli made it clear that this defeat would not affect their performance negatively and wished to carry on with the same momentum.
