DC vs SRH: DC Reclaims the Top Position after Successfully Chasing Down 135 vs SRH

Delhi Capitals reclaimed the top position on the points chart of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 33rd match in Dubai. On Wednesday, DC managed to restart their IPL 2021 journey with a fine 8-wicket win against SRH.

The team Delhi comfortably outshined the Sunrisers with their outstanding batting and bowling performances. With the fiery spells by the South African bowling combo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, DC bowlers did not let the SRH batsmen get a strong foothold on the pitch. Sunrisers only managed to score 134 for 9 in 20 overs.

On the other hand, in the 2nd innings of Wednesday’s game, Delhi batsmen dominated the Hyderabad bowlers while chasing a target of 135. The team DC reached their target of 135 in only 17.5 overs with the contributions from the bats of Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant.

The former DC captain seemed to get back to his form with an impressive knock of 47 not out. He remained the top-scorer of the match while Dhawan made 42 off 37 balls and Pant remained not out with 35 off 21 balls.

Talking about their performance in the match, DC skipper Pant said, “Very happy with this performance. We discussed that we had a good first phase, and we are happy to start the second phase this way. We said the same thing about focusing on the process and giving it 100% every day.”

“It’s a good bowling performance because we thought 150-160 would have been a good total, so 130-something was a good score to restrict them to. We have one of the quickest bowlers in the world so I think they’re great assets to have,” he continued.

Notably, the 37-year old Delhi opener Dhawan became the 3rd batsman after David Warner and Suresh Raina to go past 400 runs in the six consecutive seasons of the IPL. In fact, in the ongoing season, he is the sole lead in the race to the Orange cap with PBKS captain KL Rahul 42-runs behind him. Dhawan was not selected in India’s T20 squad for the upcoming T20 world cup in the UAE.
