CSK vs RCB: CSK Tops the Table After 6-wickets Win vs RCB

Must read

Chennai Super Kings returned to the top of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 after defeating Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) in Sharjah. On Friday, CSK bagged an impressive 6-wicket win against RCB in the 35th match of IPL 2021 in the UAE.

The team RCB had a solid start with the opening partnership of 111 runs in 14 overs by captain Virat Kohli (53) and Devdutt Padikkal (70). Kohli hit six boundaries and one six while Padikkal scored five fours and three sixes.

However, after the dismissal of Kohli by Dwayne Bravo and Padikkal by Shardul Thakur, RCB players failed to impress with their natting performance. CSK bowlers easily restricted them to a total of 156 for 6.

At the post-match press conference, young Padikkal admitted, “We were initially looking at 170-180 but there was no such target as the target could have gone up as well. We were just trying to play the ball on its merit and score runs. Unfortunately, we could not get the ideal finish and hopefully, we will correct this in the next game.”

On the other hand, Dhoni’s men quite comfortably gunned down the target score within 18.1 overs leading to RCB’s 7 successive defeats in the ongoing series of the IPL. The opening 71-runs innings by Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis gave CSK an impressive start while skipper MS Dhoni (11) and Suresh Raina (17) gave the match a smooth finish.

RCB skipper congratulated and praised CSK bowlers for their dominance in the back end of the innings. Talking about RCB’s performance, he added, “That little bit of X factor was missing in the first 5-6 overs. Got to get on that winning run again. This one is a bit more disappointing. The first one we just weren’t in the game. Have to show more courage in crunch moments. This tournament goes by quickly.”

However, in this match,  Kohli seemed like getting back to his form and looked quite confident as a captain. He played a few terrific shots while leading the team from the front.
