On Wednesday, the number of daily Covid-19 cases in the United Kingdom soared to 183,037, a new high. On the other hand, 57 more patients died as a result of the virus on Wednesday. According to government data, the total number of cases and deaths in the UK is 12,559,926 and 148,089, respectively. In areas of the UK, including Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, stricter rules for gathering at indoor and outdoor events went into effect on Sunday. However, there are no such regulations in place in England.

Plan B precautions are presently in effect in England, which includes working from home, wearing face masks, and having Covid-19 immunization certificates to enter major venues. Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, has warned people to be cautious on New Year’s Eve and to get vaccinated against Covid-19. Johnson stated on Wednesday, “I’m sorry to tell this, but the overwhelming majority of folks who are currently ending up in intensive care in our hospitals are people who are not enhanced.”

The United States, which has been affected the hardest by the Covid-19 epidemic, has so far reported around 54 million instances. Over 512,000 cases were reported in the last 24 hours in the country on Tuesday, the greatest single-day increase since the pandemic began in 2020. Omicron is predicted to account for 58.6% of Covid-19 variations circulating in the United States, according to data given by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The country’s healthcare system has already been swamped by the new variety. Every day, about 9,000 people are admitted to hospitals. According to presidential medical adviser Anthony Fauci, Omicron cases in the United States would likely peak by the end of January. When asked when the country’s cases will peak, he told CNBC, “I would assume, given the size of our country and the diversity of vaccination vs no vaccination, that it will be more than a few of weeks, probably by the end of January, I would guess.”
