Reopening of schools in Maharashtra postponed while covid cases drop below 200

The Maharashtra administration suspended its decision on reopening schools in the state on Monday, citing objections to its earlier statement that in-person learning will resume in schools on Tuesday.

Because the under-18 population has not yet been vaccinated against the fatal virus, Covid-19 task forces across the state were not in favor of the government’s earlier decision to resume in-person instruction for classes five and eight in rural areas and classes eight to 12 in urban areas.

Meanwhile, Mumbai registered 195 new infections on Monday, a considerable decline from the high numbers seen since the second wave began.
According to Monday’s update, 54.58 crore vaccine doses have been delivered in the country, with 1743114 doses administered in the last 24 hours.

In reference to data released on Monday, there are now 76 cases of the Delta Plus variety of the disease. According to the authorities, 10 of them had received both doses of one of the Covid vaccines and 12 had just received the first. All mall personnel and guests, with the exception of those under the age of 18, must be completely vaccinated, according to the administration.

On Monday, Maharashtra reported 4,145 new cases and 100 deaths as a result of the pandemic. On Monday, 152,165 tests were performed, with a total of 5,811 recoveries. There are now 62,452 active Covid-19 patients in the state, with 14,610 in Pune (the largest of any city), 6,938 in Thane, and 6,909 in Satara. A total of 625,414 doses of vaccination were administered.
