Petrol and Diesel prices in India have continued to rise to new highs, with fuel rates in the national capital Delhi being raised by 35 paise each on Saturday, the 14th spike this month. With today’s increase, petrol and diesel prices have surpassed 100 rupees per litre in more state capitals, just days after they did so in Mumbai, Bhopal, Jaipur, and Bengaluru, among other cities.
Currently, Petrol is selling for 98.11 a litre in Delhi, according to a notification posted by state-owned oil retailers on Saturday, while diesel is currently selling for 88.65 per litre. In Mumbai, however, petrol hit a new high of 104.22 per litre, while diesel hit 96.16 per litre.
Patna, where it was predicted that a single raise would push fuel prices above $100 per litre, has now done so. Following today’s revision, fuel in Patna is now selling for 100.14 per litre, while petrol in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, has also surpassed the 100-mark. In Kerala’s capital, the price of gasoline is 100.09 a litre.
Mumbai, Jaipur, Bhopal, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad are among the cities where petrol prices have already surpassed the $100 threshold. According to reports, with today’s revision, gas prices in 11 states and union territories have surpassed $100 per litre. Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Odisha, Ladakh, Bihar, Karnataka, Telangana, Rajasthan, and Jammu & Kashmir are the states involved.
In most areas, though, diesel prices have remained below $100 per litre thus far. Diesel prices had just recently surpassed the $100 threshold in Rajasthan cities like Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh. In a few Odisha regions, they are now the same as they were in the past.
