KKR vs RCB rescheduled as Chakravarthy and Warrier test for COVID-19

Must read

Monday’s IPL 2021 match scheduled between KKR vs RCB has been postponed after two KKR players, spinner Varun Chakravarthy and pacer Sandeep Warrier tested positive for COVID-19. All other team members have tested negative.

Both the players have isolated themselves from the rest of the squad. This is the first instance of positive Covid-19 cases to members within the bio-bubble since the 2021 season started. The IPL authorities confirmed these developments with a statement that said “Knight Riders have now moved towards a daily testing routine to identify any other possible cases”. They further added, “Medical team is also determining the close and casual contacts of the two positive cases during the 48 hours” prior to testing.

As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, Chakravarthy had left the bio-bubble recently via an official green channel for scans on his shoulders. Perhaps, that is where he might have been exposed to the virus.

Knight Riders are currently seventh on the points table. Having played last on Thursday against Delhi Capitals in Ahmedabad, they have won only two of their first seven matches.

In the same news regarding IPL 2021, Delhi Capitals’ Axar Patel and KKR’s Nitish Rana had also tested positive for the virus. However, the two have recovered well and are currently fulfilling their duties for their respective franchises.
