India recorded 165,553 new instances of coronavirus sickness on Sunday, bringing the country’s total to 27.8 million, according to the Union health ministry, continuing a downward trend for the 46th day in a row.

Throughout the last 24 hours, 3,460 people have died in the country. According to figures updated at 8 a.m., 325,972 persons have died as a result of the coronavirus sickness. For the fourth day in a row, the country’s death toll has fallen below 4,000.

The government reconstituted the empowered groups set up to monitor and coordinate activities and responses to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the country on Saturday, including exclusive groups on oxygen availability, testing, vaccination, and emergency response capabilities, moving quickly to contain the spread even further.

Despite some indicators that the outbreak is abating, 80 per cent of the country is still under a lockdown or lockdown-like restrictions, which were implemented last month to combat the outbreak.

Kerala, Delhi, Puducherry, Meghalaya, and Mizoram opted on Saturday to extend the Covid-induced lockdown in order to curb the outbreak’s severity, while Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka loosened restrictions.
