Drop-in daily cases, 3921 deaths, bringing total of 70, 421 covid cases

On Monday, India registered 70,421 cases and 3,921 fatalities due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), increasing the total number of cases and fatalities to 29,510,410 and 374,305, respectively, according to the Union ministry of health and family affairs. On Monday, there were 72,330 people who tested positive for the virus, the lowest number of cases since April 1.

The health ministry also stated that over 119,000 people were discharged in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 28,162,947. The daily recoveries continue to outweigh the new cases for the 32nd day. Meanwhile, active cases have decreased to 973,158, accounting for 3.49 per cent of the total caseload.

In the last 24 hours, about 1.5 million samples were tested for Covid-19, bringing the total number of samples tested to 379,624,626, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). In order to jumpstart their economies, numerous states and union territories (UTs) will see greater relaxations under their unlock plans starting Monday. Shops and malls are allowed to open every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. in Delhi, while eateries are allowed to open with a 50% discount.

In India, a total of 253,195,048 people have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 disease, with 3,484,239 immunised in the last 24 hours. The first dose was given to 3,103,522 people, while the second and third doses were given to 380,717 people. Drones may soon be used to deliver vaccine doses to remote places in order to speed up the vaccination campaign. HLL Infra Tech Services Limited, on behalf of the ICMR, has requested expressions of interest for delivering vaccination doses and medications in such locations using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
