COVID Live Updates: Fresh cases fall to 39,796, while active cases stay below 500,000

According to the Union health ministry’s statement at 8 a.m. on Monday, India recorded 39,796 new instances of Covid-19 illness and 723 new deaths, bringing the total number of cases and deaths to 30,585,229 and 402,728 respectively. After 42,352 persons recovered from the viral sickness in the last 24 hours, the overall number of people who have recovered has risen to 29,700,430. The number of recovered cases continued to outnumber the number of new cases on a daily basis.

The number of active cases has decreased to 482,071, accounting for 1.59 per cent of the total caseload.

The number of cases recorded on Monday is 3,275 fewer than on Sunday when 43,071 cases were reported. On the other hand, the death toll on Monday is 232 lower than on Sunday, when 955 people died from the virus.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 419,777,457 samples have been tested for the Covid-19 illness, with 15,22,504 samples analysed in the last 24 hours.

States and Union Territories (UTs) have reduced their Covid-19-related restrictions as daily infections in India have been declining for nearly two months and the country has not had a high since May 7.

As part of the sixth step of the unlock process, the national capital Delhi enabled stadiums and sports complexes to open without spectators from 5 a.m. today. All types of public meetings, however, are prohibited. In Delhi, auditoriums, spas, amusement parks, schools, and institutions are still closed.

Meanwhile, according to the Union health ministry, recipients have received a total of 351,221,306 vaccination doses against the Covid-19 disease, with 287,137,161 receiving the first dose and 64,084,145 receiving both doses. In the previous 24 hours, about 6.38 million people have been vaccinated.
