Zee bags media rights for UAE T20 tournament

In a significant development, Zee media has signed a Global Media Rights Contract with UAE’s T20 league. UAE’s T20 league announced this development and said about signing a long-term contract with Zee. The league will exclusively air on Zee’s OTT platform and linear channels all across the world.  

 

UAE’s T20 league is a professional cricket match that comprises six teams in total. The teams compete in a total of 34 matches. Companies like RIL (Reliance Industries Limited), Lancer Capital, Kolkata Knight Riders, Capri Global, GMR Group, and Adani Sportsline own the teams. 

 

The chairman of UAE’s T20 League, Khalid Al Zarooni said that they are very satisfied to be associated with the league and termed Zee as a credible broadcast partner. He also said that Zee can take viewership to a new level. The match will be aired on Zee’s 10 linear channels including English, Hindi, Tamil, and East, and South regions. At the same time, the league will be streamed Live on Zee5 and radio globally. Zee has its presence in 190 countries which will help in reaching a large audience and will engage people for the match in more than 100 million households. 

 

General secretary of Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), Mubashshir Usmani said that the league will provide a beneficial platform for the Emirate Cricket. It will provide the players to coach and play alongside the world’s best players and will boost the local talent. After the sports business channel was purchased by Sony, the UAE T20 league will be the first sports property that is being purchased by the broadcaster. It is also predicted that Zee and Sony may team up to purchase IPL, and also may soon complete their merger.
