Lucknow Hammered Kolkata Knight Riders by 75 runs

In the 53rd game of the Indian Premier League of season 2022, Lucknow Super Giants managed a comfortable 75-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. chasing the target of 175 runs Kolkata folded out at 101 runs. In the final overs, the second-highest wicket-taker Avesh Khan, and Jason Holder hurt the Kolkata batter by taking up three wickets respectively. However, Lucknow’s initial innings were poor as Rahul was dismissed but Quinton De Kock scored a brisk fifty to maintain the scoreboard. 

Deepak Hooda also contributed 41 runs off 27 balls. Australian Player Marcus Stoinis was the top performer after he hit 14-ball 28. Jason Holder also struck in with 13 runs from 4 deliveries as Lucknow Super Giants extended 176 runs over 7 wickets in 20 overs. On the other hand, Kolkata’s Andre Russell snatched two crucial wickets of Hooda and Krunal Pandya. But Lucknow’s bowlers dismissed in a row to rattle the opponent’s team with regular wickets.

Holder and Avesh took three wickets respectively, while Mohsin Khan, Dushmantha Chameera, and Ravi Bishnoi picked one wicket individually. Lucknow almost confirmed an IPL playoff berth with the victory. After this win, Lucknow Super Giants acquired the top spot on the points table. Until now Lucknow has played eleven matches out of which they won eight matches and has overtaken the Gujarat Titans on the point table with 16 points. On the other hand, Knight Riders are hanging on the eighth position on the point table with eight points.

After placing an above-par score on a pitch that was not easy to bat on, the Lucknow seamers just hawked fire right from the get-up and go. Chasing a target of 177 runs, KKR were bowled out for 101 in 14.3 overs. Russell’s good performance hammered 45 runs off 19 balls but couldn’t stave off a defeat. Earlier, a match of 50 runs off 29 balls by Quinton de Kock led LSG to post 176 for seven in 20 overs. Russell was in good bowling form too and snatched two wickets for KKR.
