KL Rahul’s Homecoming Century puts Mumbai Indians in misery

Must read

In the 34the match of the Indian Premier League of season 2022, KL Rahul scored his second century in a row against Mumbai Indians. LSG’s skipper smashed 103 runs off 60 balls and bowlers backed up their captain with a flawless performance. LSG records its splendid win against Men in Blue by 36 runs and in turn, the five-time winner is out of the Indian Premier League. Lucknow posted 168 runs target to chase after being invited to bat first at Wankhede Stadium.

Responding to the target, Rohit Sharma was performing well initially, he scored 39 runs off 31 balls but Mumbai Indians collapsed on 67 runs for four wickets. Tilak Varma courageously hit 38 off 27 balls to give MI some hope before Lucknow confined them to 132 runs for 8 wickets. After winning five out of 8 matches, Lucknow grabs the fourth position in the overall points table with 10 points.

For Mumbai, this tournament has proved to be a massive failure as they collapsed to their eighth successive loss in the league. Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul’s happy Sunday turned into a bad one when he was found guilty of breaking IPL’s Code of Conduct. He was docked for the second time this season of IPL 2022.

Manish Pandey scored a 58-run stand with Rahul but he was short of intent during his fast track 22 runs, while Marcus Stoinis paraded back to the pavilion with no score, and Deepak Hooda scored 10 runs and walked back to the hut in quick succession. Kieron Pollard twisted things back a bit as he took two wickets in two overs, while Riley Meredith counted for two but surrendered 40 runs. Once again, Jasprit Bumrah displayed his brilliance, chasing the target of 169 runs, Ishan Kishan looked low trust but Rohit Sharma was in full flow. The MI captain smacked five boundaries and a six to give hopes for a successful chase.
