The cash was discovered in over 600 lockers in Singh’s Sector-50 home in Noida and was in the denominations of Rs 2,000, Rs 500, and Rs 200.

Officials from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) raided the home of a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer in Noida Sector 50 on February 1 and discovered undeclared cash worth crores. Ram Narayan Singh, an ex-IPS officer, is claimed to be linked to the Samajwadi Party.

I-T officials arrived in Sector-50 late on Sunday evening, according to sources, and uncovered cash during their search. According to police, the cash was kept in over 600 lockers established in Singh’s Sector-50 apartment in Noida and was in the denominations of Rs 2,000, Rs 500, and Rs 200. The cash seized from these lockers had to be counted by I-T officials using bank counting equipment.

Ex-IPS officer Ram Narayan Singh explained that he owns a private locker business called Manasam Noida Vaults and gives private locker facilities to customers, which explains the large sum of money confiscated from his premises. Singh denied any wrongdoing, telling reporters that he had been renting out private lockers for the past five years and had not done anything illegal.

“I’ve been told that the I.T. department has arrived to examine the private lockers, and the search is underway.” He said, “I have nothing to conceal because I run a respectable business and have multiple customers that use these services.” Ram Narayan Singh was a 1983 batch IPS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre. He stepped down from the position of DG. He is known to have a tight relationship with the Samajwadi Party. The IT department had received information concerning unaccounted funds at Singh’s homes in Noida and Ghaziabad, according to the source. On the 30th of January, a team of I-T department sleuths, together with Noida Police, arrived at Singh’s residence and began searching. According to insiders, IT officials have compiled a list of those who used the locker facility, and notices will be sent to them soon. “It must be determined whether these lockers are indeed rented out by legitimate consumers or are Benami.”

Individuals associated with the Samajwadi Party were subjected to an I.T. raid

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time an individual facing I.T. raids has been linked to Akhilesh Yadav in recent months. The Income Tax Department raided the properties of real estate firm ACE Group and its promoter Ajay Chaudhary in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Agra on January 4. Chaudhary is claimed to be a close associate of Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, according to sources. In December, IT sleuths raided the homes of many SP leaders and associates, including Manoj Yadav in Agra and Neetu Yadav aka Jainendra Yadav in Lucknow.

Raids on perfume mogul Piyush Jain resulted in the confiscation of hundreds of millions of rupees. Jain is said to be a close ally of the Samajwadi Party. Pushparaj Jain, a Samajwadi Party MLC, was also raided afterwards. The Income Tax Department discovered concealed assets worth hundreds of thousands of rupees from SP leader Rajeev Rai on December 22, 2021. Undisclosed incomes, fake loans, and investments in Benami properties are among the assets.
