Just months ahead of the upcoming Punjab Elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has informed that his party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in talks with both Captain Amarinder Singh and BJP’s old ally, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). The old Congress loyalist- Captain Amarinder Singh, who recently left the party and formed his own political outfit has expressed desires to ally with the BJP for the upcoming 2022 Punjab Assembly Elections.

Amit Shah, speaking during an interview to a print media, said that the upcoming Punjab Elections will be fought on merit and that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is talking to Captain Amarinder Singh as well as Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa. Shah said “We, the BJP are talking to Captain Amarinder Singh as well as Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa. It is very possible that we all can have a strong alliance for the upcoming polls. Prime Minister Modi  had shown a big heart and repealed all the three-farm laws and now there is no issue left in Punjab.”

As per poll pundits, BJP does not have much stake in Punjab but with a formidable alliance, it can become a strong face. Earlier, Captain Amarinder Singh who floated his own party has expressed his willingness to ally with the BJP on the condition that the Center find a suitable solution to the farmer’s protests. Now, with the BJP government at the center repealing the three farm laws, the chances of Captain allying with the BJP have increased manifoldly.

The Assembly Elections in Punjab is due for the next year and the elections to 117 members assembly will be held around Feb or March.
