DC vs CSK: Delhi Returns to the Top Outclassing CSK by 3-wickets

Must read

Delhi Capital (DC) moved to the top of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 points table after a thrilling 3-wickets win against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Monday. DC players showed their strong nerves and managed to pull off a tense 137-run chase in the 50th match of IPL 2021 in Dubai.

In the first half of the match, CSK witnessed a failure from the top order and finished at 136 for 5 in 20 overs. The 70-run stand between Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni helped them to finish the match with a decent total. However, Dhoni (18 runs off 27 balls) seemed to struggle with the bat while Rayudu remained unbeaten on 55 off 43 balls.

On the other hand, the 137-run chase was not quite easy for DC also after Shardul Thakur (2 off 13) removed both R Ashwin and Shikhar Dhawan in the same over and Ravindra Jadeja (2 off 28) picked up the wickets of Rishabh Pant and Ripal Patel. In fact, DC ended up losing 4 wickets for 28 runs in the middle overs. However, Shimron Hetmyer helped DC to get back into the game with his unbeaten 28 off 18 balls.

The thrilling win against CSK was an apt birthday gift for the birthday boy and DC captain Rishabh Pant. Pant, who turned 24 on Monday, said, “Not a bad birthday present, it was a tough match, we made it tough for ourselves. In the end, if we win everything is fine. In the powerplay, they came hard and got away. After that, we bowled some good overs. In the end, they got away with some extra runs.”

“Big win, because of this we can be absolutely sure that we can finish in the top two. So it’s a great win for us,” he added.

Meanwhile, CSK skipper MS Dhoni played his slowest innings in the history of the IPL. Even after facing more than 25 balls, he did not hit any boundary or over-boundary.
