Every year on September 5th, India commemorates the memory of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the country’s first Vice-President and second President. Teachers are the greatest blessing in our life who guides us on the right path through their life experiences. The bond that exists between a teacher and a student is unique. 

Teachers teach their students how to live and prepare them to deal with the issues that life may throw their way in the future. Some wonderful films have depicted this special bond between students and teachers. Let’s have a look at some of these movies on this unique occasion of Teachers Day.

1. Black

The story of a blind and deaf child (Rani Mukerji played a part based on Helen Keller’s life) and her relationship with her teacher (Amitabh Bachchan), who subsequently developed Alzheimer’s disease, was told in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ground-breaking film. All of the trophies and accolades went to the movie, as well as the hearts of the audience.

2. Taare Zameen Par

Aamir Khan also played art teacher Ram Shankar Nikumbh in the film, which saw him help his eight-year-old student Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi (Darsheel Safary) overcome dyslexia. The film about hope and despair has become a classic.

3. Chak De! India

Shah Rukh Khan as a teacher plays the role of  Kabir Khan, a hockey coach who supports and motivates the national women’s hockey team to succeed while also exorcising his own demons.

4. Iqbal

Iqbal was another Nagesh Kukunoor film that dealt with the teacher-student relationship. It was the story of Shreyas Talpade, a deaf and mute child from a small Indian hamlet who aspired to play for the national cricket team. A local drunkard (Naseeruddin Shah), who was once a terrific cricketer, tutors him.

5. Hichki

Hichki, a gem from filmmaker Siddharth Malhotra and actress Rani Mukerji, sheds light on the education system and the right to education in a thoughtful manner. The female protagonist accepts the task of teaching the school’s worst class and, through her efforts, transforms the worst student into the greatest.

6. Super 30

The film is based on the true story of Anand Kumar, who every year educates 30 kids who cannot afford IIT coaching lessons. The film depicts Anand Kumar’s challenges and efforts in the fight for the right to education.

7. Nil Battey Sannata

We’ve always heard that a mother is a child’s first teacher, and this film brilliantly displays that on the big screen. The story depicts a mother gaining admission to her daughter’s class in order to assist her with her Math problems. Something different and inspiring!
