Covid Live Updates: 3.67 lakh actives cases in India, lowest since march

On Tuesday, the authorities recorded 35,178 new COVID-19 cases and 440 deaths. The daily new cases are up over 40% from Monday’s 25,166, which was the lowest single-day increase in 154 days.

The number of active cases has dropped to 3,67,415, the lowest level in 148 days, accounting for 1.14 percent of all cases. In the last 24 hours, 37,169 people have been discharged after treatment, bringing the total number of people who have recovered to over 3.15 crore. The recovery rate is at 97.52 percent, which is the best it has been since March of last year.

The efficacy of the Covid-19 vaccine is deteriorating with time, according to US regulators, who have permitted booster shots for all Americans beginning September 20 and lasting eight months after a person has been fully vaccinated.

Malls across Maharashtra will close again due to issues in meeting the criteria of fully vaccinated workers as the state takes gradual efforts to open amid fears over the Delta variety. The Shopping Centres Association of India, on the other hand, has encouraged the Uddhav Thackeray government to open the malls if the employees have “received one dose.”

“The available data make very clear that protection against (coronavirus) infection begins to decrease over time following the initial doses of vaccination, and in association with the dominance of the Delta variant we are starting to see evidence of reduced protection against mild and moderate disease,” the nation’s top health officials said in a statement.
