Rahul Gandhi, who is on a three-day visit to his Kerala parliamentary seat of Wayand, would meet the district collector of Kalpetta on Tuesday. At the Karassery Bank Auditorium in North Karassey, Thiruvambady, Gandhi will also participate in the launch of the Karassery Panchayat Farmers’ Day program, where he would honor agriculturists.

He’ll also have lunch with residents of the Gandhi Bhavan Sneharamam old age home in Wandoor, Malappuram, later in the day.

The Congress leader unveiled Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at the Gandhi Park in Mananthavady, Wayanad, on Monday. In his remarks, he stated that whatever Mahatma Gandhi said, he put it into practice.

“The powerful thing about Mahatma Gandhi was that whatever he said, he put it into action. So, if he said India should be a tolerant country then he behaved in a tolerant way. If he said India should treat its women with respect, he treated women with respect,” the Wayanad MP said, adding the “father of the nation” also behaved in a secular manner.

“If Gandhi ji said that India is a secular country, he himself behaved in a secular manner. He had the Gita, the Quran, the bible, and the Guru Granth Sahib as his guide,” Rahul Gandhi told the gathering.
He also dedicated the Ponkuzhi Kattunaika Colony’s drinking water project in Ponkuzhi.

Gandhi’s visit to Wayanad comes exactly a week after his visit to Srinagar, the capital of Jammu and Kashmir when he urged for the statehood of J&K and the holding of free and fair elections without delay. This was his first trip to Kashmir after Article 370 was repealed in 2019. He was leading an opposition delegation to J-K at the time but was compelled to return from the Srinagar airport.
