World Environment Day 2021: PM Modi to interact with farmers & share report on ethanol blending

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will speak at a World Environment Day event and announce the release of the “Report of the Expert Committee on Road Map for Ethanol Blending in India 2020-2025.”

PM Modi will also kick up a trial project of E 100 distributing stations in three Pune areas. He’ll also talk to farmers about their experiences as enablers in the Ethanol Blended Petrol and Compressed Biogas programmes.

To mark World Environment Day, the government has issued the E-20 notification, which instructs oil firms to sell ethanol-blended gasoline with an ethanol content of up to 20% beginning April 1, 2023, as well as BIS requirements for higher ethanol blends E12 and E15.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement earlier that this is being done to make it easier to put up more ethanol distillation capacity and to offer timetables for making blended gasoline available across the country. It will also help raise ethanol consumption in ethanol-producing states and neighbouring regions before 2025, according to the report.

The Union ministry of petroleum and natural gas, in partnership with the ministry of environment, forest and climate change, is hosting the event.

Every year on June 5th, people all around the world commemorate World Environment Day in order to promote awareness about the value of nature and to inspire constructive environmental change. In 1972, on the first day of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment, the United Nations Assembly established World Environment Day. Since then, it has grown into one of the most important e-commerce events.

This year’s World Environment Day theme is ‘Reimagine. Recreate. Restore,’ in honour of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, which begins in 2021. This year, Pakistan is the worldwide host for the day, which emphasises the necessity of ecosystem restoration.
